Individual Therapy
Hey There!
My name is Diana Garcia , and I provide individual counseling for stressed-out millennials looking to feel calm and confident and learn how to live a kickass life.
What is Individual Therapy?
Individual therapy is where we explore what is causing you distress but, more importantly, how we can help you move forward in your life. Initially, I will focus on further understanding what’s going on by asking you more history about the issue(s) that brings you to therapy and general history about yourself. I will also focus on what you hope to accomplish by coming to therapy to consistently make sure we’re using that as a compass for our work together. Sessions are offered in the office and/or via Telehealth. Please see the Telehealth section for more information.
Approach
I combine interventions from different treatments, including evidenced-based models that have shown to be effective. Research has shown that the client-therapist relationship is significant in the therapeutic process, which means it’s vital that we’re a good fit to work together. I work well with individuals who are willing to look at what’s keeping them stuck and overwhelmed and ready to make some changes. That doesn’t mean I’m a drill sergeant by any means, but I’m also not just going to solely ask you, “and how does that make you feel?”.
I tend to be open and honest in my feedback to you, again with an underlying intention of keeping the space safe. In other words, it will be a balance of keeping it real, but in a way that you can actually hear it. At the beginning of counseling, I work with clients on a weekly or every other week basis. However, I cannot know for sure until I’ve met with you in person for the initial assessment.
Benefits
There are no guarantees to starting therapy (told you, I’d be honest). Now that doesn’t mean that treatment won’t work; I just can’t give you a money-back guarantee as they do on those cheesy infomercials. I do firmly believe and have seen firsthand counseling help many people make meaningful changes in their lives. Some potential benefits can include
- Learning how to manage your uncomfortable feelings by changing your relationship with them (i.e., having anxiety will no longer be a full-time job).
- Trusting your own voice and making decisions without continually doubting yourself or overthinking.

- Feeling less overwhelmed and having more moments of calm.
- Being kinder to yourself and treating yourself like you are worthy (because I’m going to let you in on a little secret, you don’t need to hustle for your worthiness).
- Understanding the stories that are keeping you small and how to stop listening to the dictator within.
- Increasing your self-esteem.
- Reducing your people-pleasing behaviors.
- Stop continually seeking external validation at your own expense.
Logistics
The first step is to schedule a free initial phone consultation. You can call also call me here if you prefer good old fashion voice calls. If you do decide to call me, please make sure to leave a voicemail. I don’t call back if there is no voicemail since we live in an age of spam. When we finally connect, we can either have the 20-minute phone consult immediately or schedule a time that works for both of us.
This is where you generally tell me what’s going on and what’s making you consider counseling. I ask some questions to make sure I understand the problem and that we’d be a good fit. I also answer any questions that you may have (please, don’t be shy). If we both feel like it’s a good fit (and you’ll know if it is), then we can move forward with scheduling an initial 50-minute session.
If you schedule the initial session, I will send you a link for my client portal where you can electronically fill out all the consent paperwork.
Individual Therapy In Office & Telehealth
My office is located 5 minutes away from Exit 15, Royal Palm Blvd W, of I-75, allowing me to provide in-person therapy in South Florida. Additionally, I offer Telehealth (video) sessions across the state of Florida. So I can offer video sessions if you’re physically located anywhere in Florida from the comfort of your home.
