Anxiety Therapy in Fort Lauderdale

Hello!

My name is Diana Garcia, and I’m an anxiety therapist in Fort Lauderdale. You may be feeling overwhelmed, stressed out, and exhausted from the constant racing thoughts, indecision, and feeling that you’re not doing enough. I get it! It’s soul-sucking, and I’m here to help.

I help people create moments of peace and rest, let go of the need for perfection, slow down their monkey minds, and feel ready to have the life they want. Whether that’s finally:

  • Feeling confident enough to say no when your third cousin asks you to host their baby shower in your home.
  • Slowing down your thoughts when your stressing about all the things that are still unchecked on your to-do list.
  • Silencing that perfectionist’s voice that says you need to recheck that work project one more time before submitting it (even though you’ve already checked it three times).
  • Giving yourself permission to care for your needs because you’re tired of constantly running on 2%.
  • Taming the need to overanalyze every single response to that cutie your texting.

If you’re ready to start feeling better, schedule a complimentary 20-minute consultation with me today.

My Approach to Anxiety Therapy in Fort Lauderdale

Anxiety is a universal experience; we all have experienced it at some moment. Unfortunately, even though it’s pervasive, it doesn’t make it less uncomfortable and painful when it starts to take over your life. That’s where I come in. Anxiety itself isn’t the problem; it becomes an issue when anxiety calls all the shots and dictates how you live your life. It can show up differently and in unexpected ways for everyone. That can look like:

  • Constantly worrying about your kids, parents, partner, money, career, health, and oh yeah, how to fit in that time for self-care. All the worrying makes you feel exhausted, overwhelmed and irritated.
  • Trying to control everything in your life, but you end up missing out on the spontaneous moments of your life and unable to enjoy the joy in your life due to trying to stay in control at all costs.
  • Avoiding social situations that make you feel terrified that others will judge what you say, your outfit, hair, and how clever you sound.
  • Being afraid that you’re going to have another panic attack at your next work meeting. So, instead, you decide to stop contributing even though your ideas are begging to come out.
  • Overthinking whether you have what it takes to start dating again and being terrified of rejection. So much so that you’ve convinced yourself it’s not worth it.

My goal as an anxiety therapist in Fort Lauderdale is to help you learn how to retake control of your life. Where you are the one that gets to decide what matters to you and how you want to live your life and not the constant background noise of Anxiety Radio that broadcasts all the doom and gloom.

In our counseling sessions for anxiety, I will work with you to understand what’s getting in the way of the life you want, provide the tools you need to help you get there, and give you plenty of time to use the sessions how you see fit. My therapeutic style tends to be a mix of being compassionate and prompting you to move forward. The sessions will sometimes be hard because we will explore vulnerable areas to learn how to move through them. I firmly believe you’re the expert and will take your lead. Anxiety Therapy in Fort Lauderdale FAQ

Anxiety is treatable, and evidence-based treatments are available to help. I employ evidence-based practices and interventions best suited to your needs to make sure you are moving forward in your life. I also consistently check in with you to see if you feel the therapy is working or not.

You’re going to hate this answer, but it depends. I cannot provide an exact number of sessions, but it depends on how severe your anxiety has become and your specific goals for the anxiety therapy. Luckily, the tools and skills you learn can be applied to all areas of your life. I generally recommend you commit to 6 sessions to see if you’re making progress, but I will have a better understanding after our initial session.

You’ll notice that, yes, we will be focusing on anxiety and how it’s getting in the way, but that isn’t our only focus. I also want to make sure we focus on what’s working well in your life and mainly how to make changes, so you move closer to the life you want. I also want you to explore the areas that are important to you which clearly might not be related to anxiety at all.

That’s fine too! I’m a firm believer that everyone can benefit from therapy. Whether you’re just noticing that you’re extra stressed right now and want to learn how to cope better, great, we can explore that! Or maybe, you’re overall doing fine but know you’d like to explore some areas to see how you can learn more about yourself and grow. Come on in!

What I mean to say, don’t buy into the myth that therapy is only for when things get terrible. One of the reasons I encourage people to go to counseling, even if things aren’t bad right now, is to make sure they have the tools and skills to prevent things from getting terrible when life gets stressful. I like to think of it as your annual checkup with your doctor.

I completely understand if that’s the case. I would still encourage you to seek out services within your financial means. I’ve provided some resources below:

  • Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health Center – Offers a range of mental health services, including anxiety therapy. They accept most insurances and might even work with your specific financial situation.
  • Henderson Behavioral Health – Offers various services, including mental health therapy and anxiety counseling throughout South Florida.
  • Open Path Collective – Offers access to different mental health providers who have agreed to offer reduced rates for services. You pay a nominal fee to register for a membership to their site.
